MINNESOTA — Atheneum Elementary School in Inver Grove Heights is the best public elementary school in Minnesota, according to a new ranking from U.S. News & World Report.
U.S. News researchers created the 2025 ranking of America’s best public elementary schools based on publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education. Elementary schools are considered in the analysis from kindergarten through sixth grade.

The ranking methodology focused on assessing the status of students at or above proficiency in math and reading/language arts, while also taking into account students’ backgrounds and performance in core subjects. Student-teacher ratio was applied to resolve the relationship.
