Colorado Springs, Coloradado -The wrong weight thrown by a competitor attacked the audience at the Youth Athletic Tournament in Coloradado and killed.
The hammer has cleared the certified barrier at a hammer slot event before hitting a man on Sunday morning at Colorado University’s Colorado Spring Scampus.
The firefighter declared a dead man on site. Krdo-TV reported that he seemed to try to protect his wife and son from the ball.
He was the rival of the Colorado United Track Club, who held a high school athlete event in the state.
The authorities did not identify the athlete who threw the hammer.
“We are sorrowful for this terrible accident and focus on supporting all stakeholders,” said Jennifer Sobaanet.
The weight used in the hammer slot event is 16 pounds for men and 9 pounds for adults, according to the World Athletics Competition, an international athletics organization.
Fatal accidents in athletics are rare. The hammer killed students at the university tournament at Weaton College, Illinois in 2017.
While practicing at the US Athletics Championship in Los Angeles in Los Angeles in 2005, a shot was hit and the staff was killed.
