A Detroit resident whose flashy car was torn apart at South Beach said he’s over the moon as Miami Beach police detectives have recovered his roll and now owned it. .
“Thank you to Miami Beach Police,” he said.
With an orange top and seating, Elda Mouni’s Rolls-Roycedon was swiped in what became an increasingly common auto crime.
In a statement issued Thursday, a Miami Beach Police spokesman wrote:
“The Miami Beach Police Robbery and Unrest Force has identified complex criminal trends in which defendants exploited vehicle dispatchers and carriers by manipulating the ordering destinations for luxury vehicles. Detectives say the suspects are Engaged in rerouting truck drivers at the time of vehicle pickup and divert cargo to fraudulent locations.”
Elda Mouni was attacked in January when he was about to ship a newly purchased 2020 model from South Beach to Michigan, but detectives were registered in the hands of the thieves, with a shipping order violating the hand of the fraudster. , said Roll never left South Florida.
“(This is) a very sophisticated and complicated investigation because it was a new crime trend,” said Christopher Beth, a police officer in Miami Beach.
“The car is a $300,000 car, Rolls-Royce,” Elda Mouni told 7News shortly after the theft.
The Rolls owner replied, “I feel unsafe.”
A few days after 7News broke the crime story, officers detained three men in Aventera.
The suspect was later standing in front of Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mindy S. Glazer.
“You were arrested for dealing with stolen property, grand theft, first-degree felony and organized fraud,” Glaser said at the January 31 bond hearing.
At the time of the three men’s arrest, investigators recovered several stolen SUVs, but did not retrieve Elda Mouni’s car.
Until Thursday.
In a statement, Miami Beach Police Chief Wayne Jones wrote:
“This case illustrates the hard-working investigative efforts of detectives in identifying and dismantling complex criminal networks specialized in the theft of luxury cars. To date, our detectives have been involved in a series of investigations. We collected about $5.3 million from a luxury car stolen through the collection.”
The video, provided only to 7News, shows that Elda Mouni rolls are being towed by Miami Beach Police Headquarters.
“I call you every day. You call me back and you tell me all the updates and I’ll thank you,” he said.
“We have detectives who are reaching out to investigators around the country and seeking help,” Beth said.
Elda Mouni is grateful to Miami Beach police for staying in his case and earning his luxury wheels. Now he is ready to fly to South Florida.
“I’ll meet you in Miami and pick up the car,” he said.
7News knows that Eldamouni’s role may not be the last recovery. Police from multiple agencies are still working to determine whether the theft of the vehicle is related to other cases.
