According to a memo posted on a HR website on Tuesday night, federal workers who do not want to return to the office offer shopping.
According to the Trump administration officials and OPM spokeswoman, CNN reported that the acquisition was previously expected.
The administration has ordered the federal workers, and many of them have made a flexible job agreement following pandemic, but returned to the office and started working directly. Workers who accept the acquisition need to resign by February 6 and receive the retirement allowance paid by September 30.
Authorities said that this would come on the last day.
A memo explaining an overview of the new policy states that the government agency sent an email to the federal government employee, “Presenting a resignation offer posted on January 28, 2025.”
This email was sent from HR1@opm.gov using the Trump administration’s new mass e -mail system.
Emails say: “Employees return to face -to -face work, restore the accountability of employees with policy determination, restore the accountability of senior occupational executives, and focus on benefits. Requests will be important as a result of the above instructions.
Employees who are not acquired cannot give their own positions and the “complete guarantee on certainty”, but emails have been continued, but if they are excluded, “treated with dignity. We are provided.
Employees need to sign up to the acquisition program until February 6.
“If you resign based on this program, you will maintain all salaries and benefits regardless of your daily work load, and until September 30, 2025 (if you choose to accelerate for some reason, you will be accelerated for some reason. Exemption from all the corresponding face -to -face requirements), an outline of e -mail.
“People are angry, confused, and a little scared,” said a federal government employee, who received an email.
All the federal government employees are provided to the OPM spokesman to be a paid management leave. The Trump administration claims that this movement may be an off -lamp for federal employees who do not want to return to the office in full time, but government officials can acquire OPM’s public relations. The person in charge said.
However, there are several exceptions in the acquisition. The roles and sources of postal workers, military members, immigrants, and other roles that the government will not specify, and other roles that seem to be needed for institutions are other roles and sources that are not opt -in.
AXIOS first reported the acquisition.
The e -mail to the federal government employees on Tuesday, “the use of Farlo for quite a few federal employees and will be willing to create more rational and flexible labor. He stated that it is likely to include “re -classification”. CNN had previously reported Donald Trump’s plan to re -classify tens of thousands of civil servants.
In another memo that provides guidance on acquisitions, OPM asked the agency head to provide weekly information about the number of resignation and retirement workers.
The subject of e -mail to the federal government employees was “Road Fork”. This is the same subject in the last notification message sent to an employee on Twitter in 2022. On the campaign trail, the mask frequently talked about the shrinking federal government. The officials have said to CNN through his position, leading the government’s efficiency in the Trump administration.
“We reduce the number of government staff, but we will give you a very long retirement,” said the Mask in October. “Like two years, or something like that.”
The offer to be extended to the federal employee on Tuesday did not far below that period.
This movement has occurred because the Trump administration has enhanced the federal bureaucracy and has long been characterized by the president as a “deep nation” and to dismantle it.
Immediately after the founding, Trump ordered an employee to request employees to return to the office in full -time, signed an order to reduce the protection of federal employees. He also ordered an institution to work to eliminate diversity, fairness, comprehensive offices, and positions within 60 days, and ended the use of DEI in employment and federal contracts.
The order was wary of the federal workers and the unions representing them, and CNN had previously reported that the employees were worried about their work and the ability to carry out their duties to public services.
The National Ministry of Finance’s employee union sent a message to workers on Tuesday and urged the acquisition to be a terrible tactic and not to resign.
“Don’t make mistakes. This email is designed to resign from the federal government to tempt or scare you,” says the message. “We are reviewing e -mails carefully, and we have more information tomorrow. However, I strongly recommend that you do not resign according to this email.”
The largest Federal Workers’ Union, the US government, argued on Tuesday that the acquisition was part of a larger plan to eliminate public servants.
“This offer should not be regarded spontaneously. The goal of the Trump administration can not stay even if workers want the federal government during the anti -worker’s administrative order and policy. It is clear that it is to change, “said the President of Afge, Everetto Kelly.
Max Stier, a CEO of public service partnership, said the Trump administration’s efforts were “confused, suspicious, and dangerous.”
“Americans fly safely in relying on federal workers, veterans and elderly people access profits, keep food and water safely, protect public health, respond to natural disasters, and control the law. I will help you maintain it, “he said in a statement. “By stripping the talent of experts through such a strategic approach, all of us are at risk.”
