NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — Dreamstar Lines, which hopes to launch a luxury overnight train service between San Francisco and Los Angeles, has released a conceptual drawing of its facility with an Art Deco interior.
The company commissioned Designworks, a BMW Group company, to create an initial concept for a plan to convert the vehicle into four types of accommodation, in addition to a lounge car.
Accommodations include three types of rooms, including standard class, which the airline describes as the equivalent of first class on international flights, as well as rooms with private bathrooms and showers. The suite sleeps up to two people in a queen bed with extra space. and a family of 6 people (including 2 children) are sleeping there.
“Our goal is to offer the best combination of comfort and convenience to people who want something unique and are tired of the hassles associated with traditional transportation, truly memorable. It’s about creating medium-distance travel options,” said Dream Star Lines CEO Joshua. Dominic said the sleeper was “designed for relaxation and incorporates circadian design principles that support good sleep.”

Dreamstar announced last year that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Union Pacific “to formalize the parties’ negotiations toward a comprehensive definitive agreement,” with a goal of beginning operations in 2025.
