The Los Angeles Rams earned a win over the New England Patriots on Sunday afternoon, but the numbers suggest it was an unlikely victory. It would be a stretch to say the Rams beat the Patriots (because they didn’t), but New England’s offensive stats were good enough to win this game.
The Patriots completed 73 plays for 382 yards, 26 first downs and 6 of 14 on third down, and possessed the ball for 37 minutes, 20 seconds. The biggest difference? The Patriots made three field goals, two of which were 32 yards or less. Meanwhile, the Rams scored four touchdowns and could have added three more had Joshua Carty’s 26-yard chip shot not missed.
According to Boston Sports Info on Ta. The last time they lost such a game was in 2004 in Tennessee, when the Titans vs. the Chiefs, 49-38 in a penalty shootout.
Since 2005, the team had a 112-0 record in those games until the Rams defeated the Patriots on Sunday.

The Rams didn’t have much possession of the ball, as all four drives that ended in punts were less than three minutes long. And two of the touchdown drives were 4 seconds and 50 seconds long.
As a result, the Patriots had more plays (73 to 51), but the explosive power of the Rams’ offense made the difference in the game.
There’s no question that the Rams are the better team, and as ugly as the Patriots’ record has been, this game is a good one for any team as players fly across the country for an early kickoff at 1 p.m. ET. It was a tough game to win in such a short week. Rather than the Patriots getting blamed for the loss, the Rams deserve credit for this win.
