According to the city’s fire department, it crashed on a road around 7:20am on Friday in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and injured several people on the ground around 7:20am local time.
Six people suffered minor injuries and were not in serious condition. One of them was a motorcyclist who had passed by. The other five were passengers on the bus that was hit by part of the plane, according to Colonel Ronaldo Mello, a spokesman for the São Paulo fire station.
Firefighters arrived at the scene before 7:30am, with planes and buses on fire, Captain Mello said. “The fire was very aggressive,” he added. All passengers on the bus had escaped the vehicle before the fire began, he said.
Social media videos showed the remains of the plane in flames and massive black smoke rising into the air.
It is unclear what caused the incident, but the plane appeared to crash shortly after it took off. It struck Avenida Marquez de San Vaivente, the main road in the Barra Funda district, about four miles from Campo de Marte Airport, where the plane took off.
The plane was heading towards Porto Alegre, near 700 miles south of Sao Paulo.
About three hours after the crash, the fire station had left the scene, Captain Mello said.
