San Francisco (AP) – This will be an actual All-Star matchup. On one side there is a team with 86 All-Star selections, $2.7 billion in court revenue, and all players on the team have NBA champions, Olympic gold medalists, or both.
Meanwhile, there are still many young people who are not in the way of their resumes.
Welcome to the rethinked NBA All-Star Game, Single Elimination Mini Tournament: 4 teams of eight players, 3 games, 40 points wins from the start, David vs. Goliath elements were thrown there. It happens on a Sunday night in San Francisco. San Francisco is the latest way to make the NBA midseason showcase event competitive again.
“It’s definitely not, it’s definitely funny,” said Jalen Branson of New York. “I understand. I’m as interested as you.”
There are no more Eastern and Western Conferences. There are four teams: OGS from Shaq, young stars from Kenny, Global Stars from Chuck and up-and-coming stars from Candace. All nods to TNT analysts and basketball greats Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, Charles Barkley and Candace Parker.
In the first semi-finals, he will be Smith’s team with Berklee’s team. The second is one with all the plot. O’Neill’s team, the biggest name in basketball history – LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, James Harden, Damian Lillard, Killie Irving, Jalen Brown, Jason Tatum.
They are playing against a group of players in their first and second years, who have advanced to the All-Star Mix. Win the Rising Star competition on Friday: Stefon Castle in San Antonio, Keente George in Utah, Ryan Dan in Phoenix, teammates Zack Eday and Jalen Wells in Memphis, Trayse Jackson Davis in Golden State, Dalton Knate in Los Angeles Lakers, and Armentompson in Houston. He’s certainly a great player, but at least he’s not an official All-Star.
Still, they managed to win the All-Star Game.
“I think that’s probably why they don’t want to put this type of form into it and increase that sense of pride and become the wrong purpose for it,” Lillard said. “I mean, I get it. One thing about a team full of young players is that they’re going out there and they play with some energy. They’re going to play fast. It’s probably a competition I think it will strengthen the
According to the BetMGM Sportsbook, the Rising Stars team is a long shot to win this. It’s fair to say they don’t expect much from them. But that said, Mac McClung, who played against that team in the Rising Star competition title game on Friday night, said he wouldn’t count them.
“They are still NBA basketball players. They’re still really good basketball players,” McClung said. “And I think the atmosphere for everyone is a joy right now. I’ll see how competitive the game is. I’m excited to see it for myself.”
That’s the whole reason for change: competition, or at least hopes to have some.
Last year’s All-Star Game set a final score of 211-186, almost all three-pointers and all sorts of records for dunks, and didn’t sit well with Commissioner Adam Silver and other NBA decision makers. They don’t want game 7 type mayhem. They want a better product.
So the idea for the tournament has come to life.
“I like to know that the game has been stagnant for several years and take the opportunity to do something different,” Curry said. “I think it works just because it’s new for everyone.”
At least one player has vowed to defend in this All-Star Game. San Antonio’s Victor Wenbañama is a top defensive player of the year contender to be the first to take part in the All-Star Game and said he is doing his best.
“That’s the goal,” Wembanyama said. “The goal is certainly not to cool down.”
In the numbers
To explain the size of the second semi-final discrepancy, consider the following:
No for Shaq’s OGS. 1 (James), No. 8 (Durant), No. 13 (Harden), No. 27 (Curry), No. 37 (Lillard), No. 81 (Irving), No. There is 220. (Tatum) and 337 (brown) scorers in NBA history.
Rising Star’s main scorer: It’s George, ranked 1,813th on the list of the highest scores of all time.
format
It’s pretty simple: endless game, 40 points win from the first team, no foul out, most of the usual rules apply. There is no game of comfort.
Each player on the winning team wins $125,000. The players on the second-finished team each earn $50,000. The other two teams earn $25,000 per player.
