UNIVERSITY PARK — Jackson Shelstad scored 17 points, Keyshawn Barthelemy added 15 points, Jadrian Tracy added 13 points and No. 15 Oregon hung on to beat Penn State 82-81 on Sunday.
Nate Bittle scored 11 points and TJ Bamba and Kwame Evans Jr. each added 10 points for the Ducks (15-2, 4-2 Big Ten), who trailed for most of the second half but regained the lead in the last minute. Ta.
The game was tied at 78 with just over a minute left in the game, but Kjellstad made a mid-range jumper with 47 seconds left, giving Oregon a two-point lead. Khan attempted a layup from the opposite direction, but the shot missed. Oregon held the ball, drew a foul, and closed out the game with two free throws from Tracy.
“This hurts because this was a game where anything could have happened,” PSU coach Mike Rhodes said. “I’m not going to sugarcoat it. I’m not doing that. It was a game we could have won and we should have won. We didn’t.”
Freddie Dilione V scored a career-high 21 points, Nick Kern had 19 points and Puff Johnson added 15 points for the Nittany Lions (12-5, 2-4), who have lost their third straight game.
