President Donald Trump’s offer to most of the federal government employees surprised the workers who were paid in September.
When the US Ministry of Agriculture’s staff, located in Mississippi, received a resignation offered on Tuesday, they read it, laughing because it was meaningless and deleted it.
“I have invested a lifetime in the federal government,” said the staff who spent time in the army. “I don’t intend to throw everything away.”
In the United States as a whole, several federal workers who talked to CNN stated that they would not be able to sacrifice benefits beyond salaries, such as their career, retirement benefits, and forgiveness of student loans. They demanded not to use the name for fear of retaliation.
The Federal Workers’ union emphasized that the postponed resignation offer was immediately accused, not the acquisition, and that the administration could not track it.
“Employees should not take the program at their face value,” said the government Federation of Government, the largest federal labor union, told the members about FAQ on Wednesday. Communication from the Human Resources Management Bureau said, “It is full of inconsistency and uncertainty, and OPM has the legal authority to support programs, supports suspected interests, or qualitative standards. It is unknown whether it is ambiguous. ”
The union warned that the offer did not include the guarantee that the resignation was accepted by the program to receive the benefits for the purpose of providing the program. The federal government said that the Trump administration could not make a payment until mid -March, and that the Trump administration could subsequently paid until the parliament passed the expenditure bill.
With the opposition, the Trump administration urged employees to send another email on Friday. This time I came from individual institutions. In the enhanced text, the offer has been strengthened to “valid, legitimate, and respect each department.” In addition, the person who accepts the offer is not expected to function for about eight months (excluding rare exceptions), saying, “It is not eligible for the force reduction or other premature separation.” You can do the job in the meantime.
In the gag with a Friday White House reporter on Friday, the Trump Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy said without evidence.
However, the interviewed worker CNN does not jump on the opportunity to jump on the ship.
Mississippi USDA employees, who stated that accepting the offer was out of the question, was most angry that OPM e -mail should mention that federal government employees should be “faithful.”
“When I returned to my right long ago, I swore to protect the constitution,” they told CNN. “So I’m not faithful to anyone. I’m faithful to my country.”
OPM e -mail, including the subject “Fork in the Road”, has taken over the company by Elon Musk (there were many similarities to the Twitter called Twitter. The mask is currently the efficiency of Trump’s government. It is led by one of the duties.
The offer came when Trump tried to reconstruct the federal labor. It reduces its scale, replaces career workers with political appointments, eliminates the protection of civil servants, and ends diversity.
Approximately 2.4 million people work in the federal government and do not include postal workers. The soldiers, especially those who are associated with immigration and national security, have been excluded.
A qualified person must be decided by February 6th.
The U.S. Ministry of Agriculture, which is approaching retirement, said that they would not be incentive to take Trump, and no other in the Illinois field office would expect.
“They are trying to change everything overnight,” said the employees. “They are trying to reconsider the government, but I don’t think they can do it.”
“I will retire by the age of 60. I have been spending 25 years. I have the rights. I will not go anywhere.”
Trump’s administration is also trying to crack down on federal employees working in their homes and hybrids, rather than full -time offices.
However, many of the federal labor were outside the capital of the country, and Trump’s offer was filled with confusion and skepticism in many of their offices. Some workers said that it would be unknown from the original email whether to continue working until September, but the OPM site FAQ is not expected to work, and in the private sector. He said he was encouraged to find a job.
“I welcome you to stay at home and travel to your destination. Whatever you want,” FAQ read.
Others did not like the ominous warning of the OPM email. They also broke OPM FAQ, which encouraged workers to “move from low -productivity in public sector to high -private sector productive work” to support the prosperity of the United States.
The Labor Bureau employees first considered the CNN, but said, “As time goes on, more skepticism grows.”
One retired worker said that the Trump administration’s offer was backfired.
“Until now, I didn’t hear anything other than the one I wanted to leave,” said the worker the day after receiving the offer. “People have decided to stay today.”
The first offer to stop raised eyebrows among some people who recently received e -mail received from OPM that it was not legal. Some people think that the first test mail OPM sent last week is a phishing fraud.
Some federal workers have stated that Trump changes in their lives, reducing the value of the job that believes that offering will help Americans.
One domestic revenue agency worker told the CNN that the offer had offended them, but some of their colleagues have expressed their interest.
“Do they think we are stupid enough to do it?” Staff who intends to stay in the federal government until retired is still a few years away. “They have to fire me.”
Workers living in the south with their spouses and young children said they felt that they were fulfilling to help people.
“I really love it. Especially when someone has the money to solve the problem and (taxpayers) desperately try to get themselves. I love it, “said IRS staff.
Some workers have discovered that OPM emails are in the way. The Ministry of Home Affairs employees said that their departments were already short of personnel and had to hire a contractor, but they had to pay more -after receiving the postponed resignation package. I couldn’t sleep on Tuesday night.
“That’s a threat. A worker living in Oklahoma said,” It’s questioning all the efforts and importance of what we are doing. Not professional.
The OPM e -mail is written in a way designed to resign as a federal government employee, and Doren Greenwald, the national president of the National Finance Staff, becomes CNN in an interview. I talked.
“It was written in a very negative tone and in a threatening way,” she said. “I didn’t clarify what was provided.”
After OPM announced his offer, the union urged members not to resign “strongly” urgent notifications. Greenwald said NTEU wanted to reassure that employees had options.
“Because the document had no answers, it was necessary to provide the information to the members to protect the members,” she told CNN.
Greenwald said that having a large -scale departure from federal employees would be devastating to services that federal governments and Americans depend on every day.
Other federal employee unions had similar messages to members, and all questioned the legalism of the offer.
“Unlike structured programs provided by the federal government to reduce the number of federal employees in the past, this operation looks like a sweet transaction with a panic in a panic, but is probably fraudulent. The purpose is to accept this, “Landy Irwin stated in a statement on Wednesday by the Federal Employee’s Federation.
“This offer is a terrible tactic designed to apply pressure to quit the federal workers, promised under the illegal and incompetent agreement of paying them until October.”
