The Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) aims to diversify the tourism sector not only by destination but also by segment, with a focus on luxury tourism, which will offer more attractive and diverse services to attract more demanding visitors with higher purchasing power who want a more personalized and private treatment.
Promotional activities are already underway to position the country in the aforementioned areas, so that the Dominican Republic becomes a benchmark for all-inclusive travel and a flagship country for luxury tourism.
To this end, Alejandro Reynal, president and CEO of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, credits the Dominican Republic with “having all the elements to be a luxury destination.”
Raynal’s words, which were spoken recently in Miami where Mitul presented the luxury destination to leading CEOs and executives from the global tourism industry, come in light of his commitment to the construction of Tropicália’s Four Seasons Resort & Residences Dominican Republic in Playa Esmeralda, Miches, with the first phase of the resort slated to open in 2026.
The property will boast an investment of more than $200 million and will include a 95-room resort and 25 three- and four-bedroom private residences.
In this sense, Minister of Tourism, David Collado, stated that “the opening of the first Four Seasons hotel in Miches reflects the growth of the tourism industry and adds to the premium and exclusive experiences sought by luxury tourists in our country.”
He further stated, “It is an honor for us, both as a country and as a minister, to receive the support of the global CEO of the renowned Four Seasons brand. We thank Alejandro Raynal for supporting the development of luxury tourism in the Dominican Republic and publicly stating that our country is ready for investments and offers an environment of confidence and stability for them. We also thank businesswoman Adriana Cisneros.” Thank you for bringing the brand to the Dominican Republic and for your love and support of our country.”
He also said Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts’ commitment to luxury tourism in the Dominican Republic remains strong despite the sector’s opening and that the company’s investment is a clear sign of confidence in the country as a world-class tourism destination.
Collado thanked Raynal for his support by presenting her with a gift made from Larimar, a precious stone found only in the Dominican Republic. “It has been a successful story since day one.”
