Doctor moves to new Valparaiso office
Dr. Kumari Singh, a physician in family medicine, looks at patients at the Franciscan Physician Network Glendale Health Centre, 1101 Glendale Health Centre and Suite 101 in Valparaiso.
The existing appointments have been moved to the new Valparaiso location, the release said.
Singh completed medical school at the West Indies at the University of Windsor School of Medicine, St. Kitts and Nevis’ School of Medicine, and completed his residency at North Dakota Bismarck University in Bismarck.

Legacy Foundation Leader speaks
Crown Point Rotary Club will host Legacy Foundation President and CEO Kelly Anoe at the club’s weekly luncheon on Wednesday at 12:10pm, 2301 W. 129th, Crown Point, Crown Point.
Since joining the Legacy Foundation, a Lake County community foundation in 2014, ANOE has helped drive impactful initiatives supporting the community, the release says. She also serves on several committees and committees, including the Indiana Charitable Union Public Policy Committee.
The event will provide the community with an opportunity to learn more about the role of philanthropy in community development, the release says.

Name Dean of Nursing at Valparaiso University
According to the release, Dr. Elizabeth Gumitt is the dean of the Department of Vocational Affairs at the Faculty of Nursing at Valparaiso University.
Gmitter’s appointment comes at a crucial time. The Nursing School’s profession says it has embarked on a transformational campaign to build cutting-edge health occupational facilities.
Previously, Gmitter was dean of the School of Health Sciences and Career Programs at Malcolm X College in Chicago, where he led more than 20 healthcare programs, including 12 specialized accredited, the release said.

Gary School welcomes new curriculum directors
Gary Community School Corp. has announced that it will add Renita Craig to its academic team as director of curriculum and assessment, according to the release.
Craig’s career experience includes working as a middle and elementary school principal, assistant principal, special education director, and a high school special education teacher.
Craig holds a PhD in Educational Leadership from St. Francis University, a Masters in Educational Leadership from Concordia University in Chicago, and a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education from Eastern Illinois University.

Applications for the Leadership Northwest Program
The Leadership Institute at Purdue Northwest has begun applications for this Northwest Indiana program, the release states.
The program will be promoted by a team that includes faculty from PNW’s business colleges and teams that include leadership practitioners, and will meet monthly from September to May 2026. The facilitation team provides research-based leadership content and skill building for effective leadership in the workplace and life.

Franciscan, partner plans a safe children’s day
According to the release, the child and his family are invited to the free Safe Kids Day on Saturday at Dean & Barbara White South Lake YMCA, 100 W Barrel Drive and 100 W Barrel Drive.
Interactive events include an educational booth with a variety of activities and information on keeping your child safe, healthy and happy. Families will learn more about bicycle and helmet safety, child passenger safety, stranger danger, pediatric dental care, fire safety, pet safety, medication safety, Franciscan health prenatal support program, safe sleep, breastfeeding, water safety and more.
Families can also attend “Tim Hanning: Pro Kids Show” at 10:30am and noon. Hanning’s award-winning show connects with children through magic, comedy, music, dolls and audience involvement, the release said.
Safe Kids Day is a project for Safe Kids Northwest Indiana in collaboration with sponsors Franciscan Health Crown Point, The Dean & Barbara White YMCA, Franciscan Health Trauma Services and Cleveland-Cliffs.
