Texas Rangers and the owner Ray Davis have revealed that they want to avoid luxury tax in 2025.
At present, Fangraphs estimates $ 235 million on the first day of Rangers. The competitive balance tax is set to $ 241 million, and the front office does not have much respiratory room to cooperate during the season.
After paying luxury taxes in both 2023 and 2024, it would be even more punished to do so again in 2025. Therefore, it may be necessary to move from a part of the more established player to avoid the third repeater penalty under the threshold.
Evan Grant, Dallas Morning News, reported on Friday that a Ranger was called by another team trying to exchange with outfielder Lady Tavern. It is still unknown whether there is a mutual interest in transactions or whether Texas has closed those calls.
In 151 games last season, TaVeras hit 12 home runs, 44 RBIs, 23 stolen basses, .641 OPS, -10 defense runs, and 0.5 wars. However, the previous year, Taveras hit 14 home runs, 67 RBI, 14 theft bass, .733 OPS, three defense runs, and 2.6 wars.
Taveras played all innings in all games during the Rangers’s 2023 World Series run. He hit .321 in .993 OPS through ALCS Game 4, but then hit .035 until the end of the autumn classic with .160 OPS.
In his career, the 26 -year -old centerfielder is .664 OPS .240 batters. Since his MLB debut with Rangers in 2020, he has saved 1.7 wars on average 13 home runs, 55 RBIs, 23 stolen basses, one defense run, 162 games.
In his second year of his arbitration, Taberas and Rangers settled on a salary of $ 2.6 million in 2025 to $ 4.75 million.
Getting Taveras money from a book would not be all, but he could certainly be considered a consumable.
Rangers signed a two -year contract with Joc Pederson in December. He mainly serves as a designated Texas batter, but veterans can record time in the horn outfield spots.
The healthy Evan Carter is expected to move to the center field, and the Wyatt Langford is still on the right with the left breakout rookie season and the All -Star Bang Bang Adoris Garcia. If Carter can perform as if stretched in 2023, it would be difficult to pull out the bat from the lineup.
It is left as the fourth outfielder of Rangers, so it may be worth sending him if you give enough space around the margin. At the same time, Garcia is away from his career, and Carter has undergone surgery on the back of the off -season, so it may be easier to leave the familiar rotating work.
If the ranger wants to hold Taberla, they can consider replacing the starting pitcher Tyler Mare or John Gray instead. The former is scheduled to earn $ 16.5 million in 2025, but the latter is in the book for $ 13 million.
