WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI — Hundreds of new luxury rental homes are popping up just west of Ann Arbor.
The developers of Woodview Commons are giving us a peek inside their new neighborhood on Jackson Road just east of Baker Road in Scio Township. More than 450 rental homes are completed or under construction.
Prospective residents are viewing model apartments, attached two-story townhomes, and attached one-story ranch homes.

Thirty-three tenants signed in the first 60 days of leasing, which is “a great trajectory,” Soave Real Estate Group President Nico Schulz said during a tour Wednesday, Oct. 9. Ta.
The first phase of the project, which will introduce 456 units, is expected to be completed by next fall. These include 100 townhomes, 90 ranch homes, 133 one-bedroom apartments, and 133 two-bedroom apartments.
Over the next few years, the city plans to add up to 35,000 square feet of retail and 94 rental housing units along Jackson Road.
Schulz said he “took cues from luxury home construction” when designing the rental homes and “added bells and whistles that we thought were special.”
Units range in size from approximately 650 to 1,700 square feet. The Woodview Commons website lists units available for purchase ranging from $1,850 to more than $3,000.
Soave Real Estate is partnering with Hunter Pasteur Homes and Forbes Company on the development.

The Jackson Road corridor between the Ann Arbor and Dexter areas is seeing “movement,” including new developments and signs listing commercial properties for sale, Schultz said.
“People want to follow developments, but businesses want to follow momentum,” he said. “We’ve built something here that we hope will bring more activity to this Jackson Road corridor.”
The 90-acre property includes approximately 55 acres of open space. There are also walking and cycling trails along forest and wetland reserves.
Schultz said they keep different demographics and age groups in mind when choosing housing types.
There are also smaller apartments with the option of a shared hallway and garage space.
The two-story townhome has a private two-car garage with space for two additional cars in the driveway, and the downstairs can be used as a second living room, guest room, or office. We have flexible rooms.
The one-story ranch-style rental units also feature two-car garages, fully equipped laundry rooms, and forest views.

“This doesn’t look like any other apartment complex around here,” Schultz said.
All units feature premium fixtures and materials, and living spaces feature open floor plans and plenty of natural light, including skylights in some units. The garage is wired for an electric car charger.
The clubhouse features common spaces for gatherings, a demonstration kitchen for events, and a fitness center.
Outdoor amenities include a pool, hot tub, grill, picnic area, pickleball court, and electric vehicle charging station. Two dog parks and a playground for dogs of different sizes will also be built there.
Future retail along Jackson Road will include everyday needs and services such as a drug store and dry cleaners, as well as “enjoyable pastimes for residents on the property as well as residents of the broader community.” is expected to be included. said Schultz.

The self-storage units that were originally part of the project have been removed. Two interns cataloging the nearby West Shio Nature Reserve discovered extensive nesting grounds for gray herons, prompting the developer to move the project north.
