Zachary Dean and his company, Shorewood Commerce, won the 10th annual NYU Fredonia Student Business Competition.
The Dean of Youth Education: Senior Sociology major from Fredonia presented his company’s winning pitch at the annual competition sponsored by SUNY Fredonia’s Center for Innovation and Economic Development (CIED).
Lassana Sillah, a third-year music major with a concentration in percussion from East Amherst and founder of Concrete Made, was the runner-up.
On December 13th, the four finalists pitched their startups to three judges. The final pitch contest attracted a large number of participants, including Dunkirk City School District high school economics classes.
The competition aims to help student entrepreneurs present their business ideas, write proposals, and launch their businesses with guidance from experienced business mentors. The proposition they made was based on a business model canvas (BMC) that included value proposition, customer segments, channels, and revenue sources.
