TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Stormont Vail Health has announced the hiring of Dr. Zane Foster, who will support patients with neurological disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord and nerves.
Dr. Foster will join Stormont Vail Neurology at the Cotton O’Neill Nerve and Spine Centre.
Dr. Foster studied anthropology at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania and then earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
“Neurology is an extension of anthropology. It is the medical science of the brain and its functions that make us human. One of the reasons I chose to study neurology is because the people we see and the illnesses we treat in neurology challenge us to consider the very essence of what it means to be human and how we live. [as doctors] I can help.”
Dr. Foster completed his internal medicine internship and neurology residency at Houston Methodist Hospital, where he served as chief resident.
“Different patients come to see you for different reasons and objectives. It’s easy to get caught up in the mindset of anticipating what the patient wants and why they’re here, but that’s misleading, so it’s just as important to know how to treat and manage the patient.”
Dr. Foster is accepting patients at the Cotton O’Neill Nerve & Spine Center. To schedule an appointment, please call (785) 354-0550.
