1A District 1/2 Basketball Crossover
All-day Kings High School on Saturday, February 22nd
The Northwest Conference will feature four basketball teams (two girls and two boys) playing 1A State Tournament Bertz fights. After winning the District 1 title, the Linden Christian girls and boys teams compete in the loser-to-state game at 1pm and 3pm respectively. Nooksack Valley Girls will start the day with games at 11am, while Meridian Boys will finish at 5pm
Men’s Basketball vs. Central Washington
Thursday, February 27th at 7pm, Carver Gymnasium
The West Washington men’s basketball team sits fourth in the meeting rankings and plays central Washington, the conference’s top team. The Vikings have won nine of their last 10 games, while Central Washington has won eight of their last 10 games. Both teams came as top scoring teams at meetings, with the West averaged 81.7 points per game and Central averaged 79.7.
Friday’s Fort Fight
6pm – 7:30pm Friday, February 28th, Bloedel Donovan Community Building
If you’re interested in relating childhood memories of creating a fort and making it longer than others, check out Bellingham Parks and the Fort Fight in the Recreation Department on Friday. Teams of 2-4 need to bring sheets, pillows, cardboard and styrofoam, build forts and make other teams last longer in battle.
The team is given 30 minutes to build the fort. After the build, others judge them and award them the most creative fort. After the awards ceremony, each team wins a dodgeball, with the final Fort Standing winning.
