1A Basketball District Championship
Saturdays at 2:30pm and 4:15pm, February 15th Linden High School
The 1A District 1 girls and boys basketball championship game will be played in a row on Saturday night, February 15th, with a small number of teams competing for the title. Linden Christian is a favorite of both divisions, but the Meridian and Nooksack Valley teams offer some tough challenges on the path to the state tournament.
WWU Basketball vs. Simon Fraser
Saturday, February 22nd, 3pm and 7pm
Western will have a double header with the boys team falling at 3pm and the women team facing Simon Fraser at 7pm. The Western woman is currently fourth, but is playing her second match behind Billings, Montana, at the Great North West Athletic Conference. The boys’ team has recently lost a seven-game winning streak and is sitting fifth in the rankings.
Bellingham Bay Autorigger Paddlers Race
Marine Park in Bellingham on Saturday, February 22nd at 10am
The Outrigger Paddlers annual small boat race at Bellingham Bay begins at Marine Park in Fairhaven, then travels Clark’s point to Mad Bay and returns to Marine Park. This is a six-mile course that ends with hot soups, fire holes and awards for competitors.
