Buffalo, NY — The bill rewarded NFL MVP Joshu Allen with a record $330 million contract, including $25000 guaranteed throughout the 2030 season, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Sunday.
This was the largest guaranteed total given to NFL players, surpassing Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson’s previous mark and guaranteed $230 million.
Allen, previously signed until 2028, will turn 34 when the final year of this expansion begins. This expansion draws Allen to the second ($55 million) from the quarterback’s 14th highest average annual value ($43 million). Only Dallas Cowboys quarterback Duck Prescott has contracted with a higher average annual value ($60 million).

“I love Josh and I’m so proud of what he did that I was able to talk all day long about how great he is and what he did for our team and where he belongs in the order of everything.” “He and I have a great relationship. We talk a lot. We talk about a lot. Before we see the dust settles, Josh and I have those conversations (about potential expansions).
Allen became the first player in NFL history, recording at least 25 touchdown passes and 10 touchdown runs, and with under 10 interceptions in the season. He finished with 28 touchdown passes, 12 rushing touchdowns and six interceptions.
Allen has occupied 260 touchdowns in his career through passing or rushing. This is over 29 than Patrick Mahomes, the next attractive player in the first seven seasons of NFL history.
Improved turnovers was Allen’s focus towards the 2024 season, with him responding with his career (8) with the lowest number of seasons. It helped greatly towards the Bills’ success.
Allen also advanced his leadership in 2024 after a transitional offseason by serving as one of the two team captains.
“His consistent leadership, Josh Allen’s leadership was the biggest reason we did what we did this season, so if not, I’d know it well,” coach Sean McDermott said at the end of the season. “I’ve seen it, and he’s doing it for us every season now. It’s not an easy job.”
Allen’s play and leadership “were held hands,” McDermott said.
“He’s keeping it up, we’re going to win a lot of football games.”
Allen became the team’s third player, being named MVP, joining Thurman Thomas (1991) and OJ Simpson (1973).

Since joining the league in 2018, Allen has had 65 rushing touchdowns. Ten more than the next closest quarterback (Jalen Hurts). Allen has accounted for at least 40 touchdowns (passes or rushes) in five consecutive seasons, the longest winning streak in NFL history. No other player did it in four consecutive seasons. Only Aaron Rodgers had such a season (6).
Allen will be consistently in 2025 when coordinator Joe Brady enters his second full season in the role. Allen is away from his second AFC Championship Game appearance, and is now in his eighth season looking for his first Super Bowl appearance after going 0-4 with the Kansas City Chiefs and Mahomes in the postseason.
“We’ll turn all the stones over, across the T, and do everything I can to try and try to dot and bring Lombardi back to West New York,” Allen said at the end of the season.
This extension is a major part of Buffalo Players’ recent new deals. Defensive side Greglethaw has reached a four-year, $80 million contract. Linebacker Terrell Bernard won a four-year, $50 million contract. Receiver Khalil Shakir has agreed to an extension of $53 million over four years.
Allen, the 2018 pick from Wyoming, became the first player in 21 season to win the MVP without selecting his first team All-Pro. Since the MVP was first awarded in 1957, the other players who won despite not being the first team All-Pro were Broncos quarterback John Elway (1987, Joe Montana was the first team All-Pro) and Titan quarterback Steve McNair (2003, Manning).
