According to a source who spoke to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Joey Bosa, who has been in the final defense end of the five Pro Bowl, reached an agreement with the Buffalo Bills on a one-year $12.6 million deal.
The Los Angeles Chargers released Bosa last Wednesday, cutting ties between the longest ten-handed player and the best player in franchise history. After making four Pro Bowls in the first six seasons, Bosa is suffering from injuries, but was chosen as the fifth Pro Bowl in 2024, but is an alternative.
Bosa quickly became the Bills’ defensive line starter, joining defensive side Greg Rousseau, who was signed on Saturday for a four-year extension. The Bills released Pass Rushphone Mirror on Sunday, saving $8.4 million in cap space and restructuring Ed Oliver’s contract, sources said.

The Bosa deal is the latest move in a busy offseason for the Bills, who have reached the expansion with wide receiver Khalil Shakir, linebacker Terel Bernard and quarterback Josh Allen, who received a record $250 million. Bosa, the third pick in the 2016 draft, was the NFL defensive bluekey of the year of that season, losing 10.5 sacks and 17 tackles. He set up an NFL record by recording 19 sacks in his first 20 games.
The Chargers paid Bosa on a five-year, $135 million contract extension in 2020. This was the wealthiest deal in the history of the NFL at the time. However, he has played just 28 games in the last three seasons due to injuries.
For his career, Bosa recovered four fumbles in a total of 343 tackles, 157 quarterback hits, 87 tackles, 17 forced fumbles and 107 regular season games. His 72 career sacks rank second in Chargers history, only after Leslie O’Neill (105.5).
