Rice, who suffered a knee injury Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, will miss next Monday night’s game against the New Orleans Saints.
Rice was injured when he collided with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes while attempting to recover a fumble during a Chargers interception return. Rice suffered impacts to both knees in the collision with Mahomes, and the receiver’s right knee appeared to hyperextend. He was helped off the field and had his knee examined by medical personnel on the sideline before being carted to the locker room.
Entering Week 4, Rice led the league in catches with 24 and was second in yards with 288.
Coach Andy Reid said the plan is to spread the ball out to all receivers during the Chiefs’ absence, rather than just relying on rookie Xavier Worthy to replace the lost production.
