HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University has once again been named among the top universities in the region with three rankings from U.S. News and World Report.
The university is listed as one of the top 50 public schools in the South and one of the top 100 universities (private or public). Southeastern University was also named one of the nation’s top performing universities for student social mobility.
“These honors are further proof of the tremendous support that Southeastern students receive from our faculty and staff,” said Southeastern University President William S. Wainwright. “We are committed to the academic success of all of our students.”
U.S. News and World Report publishes U.S. university rankings every year. Universities are judged based on academic quality and measures such as graduation rates, retention rates, and social mobility.
“While this methodology is the result of years of research, we continually refine our approach based on user feedback, literature reviews, trends in our own data, and the availability of new data. “We regularly collaborate with institutional researchers and academic leaders, including presenting at higher education forums and conducting interactive webinars,” US News said. “While our detailed methodology is partly transparent for schools and academic institutions to use, it is primarily because prospective students know what the rankings measure. , because we believe rankings are more useful.”
Graduation rates for first-generation college students were reincorporated into the overall methodology of the rankings. The rankings “evaluate which schools best serve underrepresented students” and analyze enrollment and graduation rates for low-income students with Pell Grants.
Southeastern ranked 117th nationally in social mobility.
