Section 6 released its football playoff schedule Sunday afternoon, revealing Class C South tiebreak procedures in the process.
Salamanca already clinched the No. 1 seed in Class C South heading into last weekend, but the results of two other games affected the No. 2-4 seeds in the division.
Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton, which lost to Portville/Cuba Rashford on Friday night, actually clinched the No. 2 seed in a three-way tie with the Panthers and Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove did. With all three finishing with records of 5-2 in the division, the first tiebreaker was decided by points, resulting in the Eagles being the second seed. After the three-way tiebreaker was broken, the tiebreaker between the two teams became a head-to-head record, with a 34-14 win on September 20th, leaving Herd as the No. 3 seed over Portville/Cuba Rashford. It became more advantageous.
CS No. 1 seed Salamanca will host Class C North No. 4 seed Cleveland Hill in Friday’s quarterfinals. No. 2 CS Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton hosts No. 3 CN Alden on Friday, while No. 3 Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove hosts No. 2 CN Medina on Thursday. , will play against 4th place CS Portville/Cuba. Rashford travels to CN No. 1 Newfane on Friday.
In Class AA, Jamestown closed out the No. 4 seed with a win over Niagara Falls on Friday night, setting up a rematch with the No. 5 seed Wolverines this Friday at Strider Field. Also on Friday, No. 7 Lockport will host No. 2 Lancaster, and No. 6 Hatch Tech will host No. 3 Orchard Park. Bennett earned the No. 1 seed and a bye week.
In Class D, first place Climber/Sherman/Panama and second place Randolph earned byes in the quarterfinals. Friday’s quarterfinals will see No. 3 Franklinville/Ellicottville host No. 6 Cattaraugus/Little Valley and No. 4 Gowanda/Pine Valley host No. 5 Wilson.
In Class B, No. 1 Pioneer hosts No. 8 Maryvale on Friday, No. 2 Lackawanna hosts No. 7 Grand Island on Saturday, and No. 3 Health Sciences/Buffalo Academy of Sciences/Global Concepts takes on No. 6 to play against. Orleans will travel to Buffalo State on Friday and No. 4 South Park will travel to No. 5 Williamsville South on Friday.
In Class A, A1 No. 1 seed McKinley will play A2 No. 4 seed Williamsville East on Friday at All-High Stadium, A2 No. 1 seed Sweet Home will play A1 No. 4 seed Williamsville North on Friday, A1 2nd seeds will play each other. Clarence hosts No. 3 A2 seed Starpoint on Friday, and No. 2 A2 seed Kenmore West hosts No. 3 A1 seed Seneca West on Saturday.
The semi-finals will be played on the weekend of Friday, November 8th and Saturday, November 9th for the higher seeds.
The Section VI Championship will be held next weekend at Highmark Stadium. On Thursday, Nov. 14, Class D will play at 3 p.m., followed by Class C at 6 p.m. and Class A at 9 p.m.On Friday, Nov. 15, Class B will kick off at 5 p.m., followed by Class AA. kicks off at 8 p.m.
Section VI also announced the Chuck Funke Bowl repechage bracket on Sunday.
In Wednesday’s Class C semifinals, No. 1 Akron hosts No. 4 Eden/North Collins and No. 2 Southwestern hosts No. 3 Royalton Heartland/Barker.
In the Class B semifinals, No. 1 Iroquois will host No. 4 Aurora/Holland in the East on Friday, and No. 2 Depew will host No. 3 Seneca East in the West on Saturday.
In the Class A final, No. 1 Niagara Wheatfield will host No. 2 North Tonawanda on Wednesday.
