U.S. News & World Report has released a list of the state’s outstanding elementary and middle schools.
Each year, U.S. News & World Report publishes rankings of each state’s best schools based on scores and other factors. The organization began compiling a list of elementary and middle schools in 2021. Most of the schools on this year’s list were centered around Middle Tennessee, with a few outliers in other parts of the state.

How US News & World Report rankings are determined
School scores were based on performance and proficiency in math and reading. The organization surveyed the state’s performance in 105,093 kindergartens, elementary schools and middle schools to find students who were at or above proficiency in those subjects.
All K-8 rankings are based on public data from the U.S. Department of Education.
