Agent Scott Bolas, who represents some of MLB’s best-performing players, has spoken openly about his lack of spending across much of the league in recent years. Though Scott Bolas helped Juan Soto raise his incredible 15-year deal this offseason. We also saw Pete Alonso, Alex Bregman and Blake Snell sign the New Deal. He says many teams don’t even spend 50% of their revenue on the roster.
“If you look at the number of teams that spend 50% (of revenue), you’re going to think of a lot,” Bolas said in the foul territory. “No, that’s a very small number. …The Yankees spent 40% and previously spent 55%. You’re going to have Boston in that area. You’re going to spend less than $100 million. There are many teams that have been. Last year, six teams fell below $100 million, but the money you get from the General Fund is, “On a 40-person roster, how much of your income is you?” Do you have income? Expenses?

Boras’ comments are particularly noteworthy in his recent talk on spending across MLB. The Los Angeles Dodgers have been the most offensive team in free agency over the past two years, and the story reveals that the majority of MLB can’t keep up with how much money they spend to gain talent It’s become. That’s to some extent for some teams, but it’s also true that some teams haven’t done and spent as much as they can yet improve their organization.
Boras was free for the Red Sox. The Red Sox seem to have moved away from its recent low spending methods with signing with Bregman in a three-year, $120 million deal.
“It was clear they wanted to change courses,” Bolas said of the Red Sox. “They had plenty of things that have been in the last four or five years. They really wanted to make sure their club was competitive.”
