Two days after the Republican chairperson served as misgender Rep. Sarah McBride, Democrats today said she appears to be living in the hearts of Republicans “no rent”;
Her remarks came at the end of a lengthy press conference at the House Democrats’ annual policy retreat. McBride, the first openly transgender member of Congress, was probably the highest-capable member of the freshman class.
“We don’t speak about courtesy from the party that caused the rebellion. I seem to live freely rent in the minds of some of my Republican colleagues,” McBride told reporters here in Leesburg, Virginia. “I hope they spend a small portion of the time they spend thinking about me, thinking about how to cut costs for American families.
“I hope they will spend just a small portion of the time they will think of me and come up with ways to actually make the government work well.
“They’re obsessed with the issue of culture wars. The Republicans are obsessed with the issue of culture wars. It’s strange, it’s weird,” McBride added. “And the American people deserve serious lawmakers, serious elected officials who focus on bringing together people and bringing real consequences to Americans.
Her comments answered questions about how they handled issues of conduct between their ranks and members of the file, including last week’s suspension of Trump’s speech to Congress by D-Texas lawmakers.
This week, R-Texas MP Keith Self became McBride’s unstoppable side in the Foreign Affairs Subcommittee after hearing that he was the main side.
“I now recognize McBride, Delaware representative,” he said.
Without missing the beat, McBride responded by thanking himself and calling him “Madame Chair.”
After moving back and forth between Democrats and Republicans, the self quickly postponed the hearing.
