In soccer
St. Thomas More 56, Milford/Cissna Park 46. In a hard-fought battle between two of the area’s best eight-man teams that was already tied at 28-24 after the first quarter, the visiting Sabres (2-2) won and handed the Bearcats (3-1) their first loss of the season. Reid Craddock totaled seven touchdowns for St. Thomas More, passing four for 232 yards and running the other three. Marty Devaney caught all four of Craddock’s passes for 126 yards. Peter Sam led the rushing attack with 139 yards on 17 carries. M/CP’s offense was a bit more spread out. Dierks Newcomb completed eight passes for 226 yards and one touchdown, supplemented by 87 yards rushing and one touchdown. Jacob Schobert rushed five times for 81 yards and reached the end zone twice, Ethan Tuttle had four catches for 118 yards, and Caleb Krattur and Skylar Estey combined for 133 yards receiving and three touchdowns.

Blue Ridge Tournament
The Buffaloes placed second. The host Knights (2-13) were 1-3 and took fourth place out of five teams, Georgetown Ridge Farm (5-7) was runner-up with a 3-1 record and Ridge View (4-13) was third with a 2-2 record. G-RF’s Miley Ellis was named to the unanimous all-tournament team with 36 kills on the day and teammate Katie Wasick also joined the team with five blocks. Zori Turven and Claire Edwards were also named to the Mustangs’ team.
Mount Pulaski Fall Festival
Timberwolves runner-up: Cissna Park (13-2) defeated Unity Christian 25-19, 25-13 to win the championship. The Timberwolves lost for just the second time this season after wins over Lena Winslow, Mount Pulaski and Williamsville. Addison Lucht led the team with 40 kills and 20 digs over the two-day tournament. Josie Neukom had 21 kills, 22 digs and 10 aces. Ella Schluter and Maddie Marcott each recorded more than 50 assists for a total of 106 assists. Schluter had 22 digs and Sophie Duis had 20 kills.
St. Anthony’s Invitation
The Rockets are one win away from winning the title. Unity (11-8), the other team that finished as district runner-up over the weekend, took second place at Effingham with a 3-2 record. Jillian Schlittler was as versatile as ever with 23 kills, 24 assists and 30 digs. Ava Fenter had 15 kills, 12 blocks and seven aces. Deli Boehm had 14 kills and 36 digs. Lauren Shaw had 46 assists and Chroi Deutzman had 57 digs. Lindy Bates and Shelby Smith each had 12 kills and combined for 38 digs.
In men’s soccer
Beecher 4, Uni-High 1. The Irinex (10-3) saw their six-game winning streak come to an end, but they still managed to score in the 46th minute on a goal by Xavi Prasanth assisted by Aiden Kim.
Watseka/Milford 6, Judah Christian 0. The Warriors (9-2) led 5-0 by halftime and cruised to an easy second half victory over the Tribe (4-6-1). Narciso Solorzano continued his strong form, scoring four goals while Owen Avellar and Brian Morales Macias each scored one goal. David Bell added four assists.
In men’s golf
In Paris, St. Joseph Ogden placed sixth, the best among area teams at the Paris Invitational, with a total score of 359. Georgetown Ridge Farm/Chrisman’s Jace Latos shot a 73 to claim the individual championship.
In a tightly contested field of 30 teams, Champaign Central finished 26th at the Dragon Classic with a two-day score of 674. The Maroons followed a team score of 348 on Friday at Lick Creek Golf Course with a 326 on Saturday at Parkview Golf Course. Evan Kolb led the team with a total score of 160 and was tied for 46th individually. Jeremy McCoy tied for 94th with 171, Johnny Timmons tied for 107th with 173 and Myles Brandon tied for 114th with 174.
Men’s Cross Country
In Kenosha, Wisconsin, St. Thomas More placed 19th, Clinton 23rd and Centennial 27th in the 56th Angel Invitational, which featured 28 teams. The Sabres’ Charles Meer placed 28th individually with a time of 17:27.5, and the Maroons’ Dylan Yurs placed 37th in 17:39.5.
Olney. La Salette took third place as a team in the 16-team Olney Invitational, just 14 points behind the leader, thanks to an 11th-place individual finish by Marco Cruz in 17 minutes, 8.3 seconds. Three spots behind the Lions was Champaign Central, paced by Noah Greene, who took 13th place (17:11.0).
in Peoria. Of 65 teams from Detwiler Park, Mahomet Seymour placed 21st at the Richard Spring Invitational and Monticello placed 57th. The Bulldogs’ top runner was Augustus Gaudio, who placed 32nd in 15:27.38. He paced the Sages in the River Derby for 140th place in 16:14.85.
Women’s Cross Country
In Kenosha, Wisconsin, Centennial High School took third place out of 21 teams at the 56th Angel Invitational, led by Farah Scott, who placed third individually in 19:30.4. Clinton High School placed 17th and St. Thomas More High School placed 19th.
at Olney. Like the boys’ team, Champaign Central finished sixth out of 14 teams at the Olney Invitational. By just a few seconds, Kitty Miller (22nd) and Reese Baumann (23rd) led the Maroons with times of 21:33.5 and 21:37.6, respectively.
in Peoria. Among a strong field of 57 teams at the Richard Spring Invitational, Mahomet Seymour placed 27th, Monticello 50th and Urbana 54th. Emily Annand’s 19:05.88 was 96th for the Bulldogs. Taylor Mabry led the Sages in 164th place with a time of 19:59.15. Marley Yau was 218th for the Tigers in 20:32.22.
In women’s swimming
In Champaign, Champaign Central continued to prove it was the strongest team in the area, winning the Charger Invite with a team score of 401. Mahomet Seymour was third with 326, Centennial was fourth with 258, Uni High was seventh with 144, Urbana was 11th with 38 and St. Thomas More was 13th with 8. Babette Bradley led the Maroons with a win in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 11.49 seconds and Erin Armstrong won the 1-meter diving with a score of 353.85. Mississippi’s Bella Almaroad placed sixth in the diving but set a school record (315.30). The Bulldogs’ lone individual winner was Taryn O’Donnell, who won the 100 backstroke in a school record time (1:01.36), but also won two relays. O’Donnell teamed with Carsyn Johnson, Laney Howard and Reagan O’Donnell to set a new school record time on the 200 medley relay (1:54.87), and Caroline Mills replaced Howard on the winning 200 freestyle relay team (1:43.56). The Chargers’ Sofia Marquez was the lone region winner in the 100 butterfly (1:00.85).
