“Sex and the City” star Sarah Jessica Parker’s shoe brand has come to an end.
“After 10 successful years, we have made the difficult decision to close SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker this fall,” the company said in a statement to Footwear News.
The remaining products will be available to purchase online or at the brand’s West Village flagship store at 385 Bleecker Street, which will close on Sunday. People reports that its physical stores in Dubai, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates will remain open until an undetermined date.
SJP’s flagship store on West 54th Street closed in June 2022 after more than two years in business due to the impact of COVID-19. The new Bleecker Street store opened in February of last year and is just a short walk from the West Village brownstone that was used as the exterior of the apartment of Parker’s “Sex and the City” character, Carrie Bradshaw.
“Sex and the City” famously celebrated shoes from 1998 to 2004, while SJP’s shoes were more recently featured in the spinoff “And Just Like That” under the fictional brand name “Duchesse Gardini.”
“There is no SJP collection in Carrie’s World,” Parker told Vogue in 2022 about her decision not to use her real name for her brand. “I didn’t want to seem like I was taking advantage of a business opportunity or HBO, but as my first fitting approached last May, it became clear that there were still some holes to fill in terms of accessories.”
Parker’s other businesses include a literary publishing company, a wine collection and a fragrance line. Her net worth is estimated at about $200 million, according to the Celebrity Net Worth website.
Parker continues to work in both film and television. The 59-year-old Ohio native will star opposite Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy in Hocus Pocus 3, which Disney has greenlit for 2022. An exasperated Midler told Variety in July that she hadn’t yet seen the script.
