Zelenskyy said last week that Russia sent nearly 1,150 attack drones, over 1,400 guided air bombs and 35 missiles of various types against Ukraine.
In a statement on Saturday evening, the Ukrainian president repeated his call for security assurances.
“Security assurances are what integrate the majority. All partners in Europe, the US and the world are saying that President Putin can never deceive anyone again, and Russia will be able to reach Ukraine and Europe to Syria, the Middle East and the Middle East. To this end, we need a common understanding of how to ensure that we are no longer able to bring death to other countries. Africa,” Zelensky said.
“It is important for all Ukrainians to see the world stand with us as we approach the third anniversary of a full-scale war,” he added.
President Donald Trump escalated his criticism of Zelensky last week, accusing him of starting a war, calling him a “no-election dictator.”
Trump’s remarks have fueled concerns among European leaders about the stability of American support for Ukraine. French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Kiel Starmer will meet separately with Washington’s Trump later this week.
Priorities told Zelensky on Saturday that he would discuss the importance of Ukrainian sovereignty in his encounter with Trump. A Downing Street spokesperson said the UK leader repeated the UK’s “Ironclad Support” to Kyiv in a call on Saturday.
He insisted that Ukraine must be “at the heart of negotiations” towards the end of the war, Downing Street said.
