What’s more to love than finding a great steal of a deal? The ROSS 49¢ sale typically takes place in January, and we expect it to start around January 21, 2025. However, if we hear that it starts earlier than that, we will be sure to let you know.
Check out your local ROSS Dress for Less store to see if they’ve already started discounting products. According to the website, the year-end clearance sale is currently underway! That means you might find a 49-cent hot pink clearance tag on an item in the store. Finding items with special hot pink tags can be a little tricky. Start where you see the red clearance sign and take a close look at the rack.
Although this sale is technically an “unofficial” sale, these tags tend to pop up around this time every year. In the past, shoppers have seen clothing, jewelry, holiday items, lotions, coloring books and more all discounted to 49 cents.

1. Purchase “Senior Tuesday” from the ROSS store.
If you’re 55 or older, get 10% off at ROSS every Tuesday. This offer may vary by location, so check with the store before you go.
2. Beware of “Markdown Monday.”
Mondays seem to be the days when ROSS stores discounted items. Shop early on Monday or Tuesday to get these items before someone else buys! Store managers may create Monday’s drop list by Sunday. It doesn’t hurt to ask the store manager how much of a discount they expect to see that week.
3. Use the code provided on your receipt to enter into the ROSS Sweepstakes.
ROSS hosts monthly sweepstakes and awards one grand prize and five second place prizes. To enter, please submit your receipt number to the sweepstakes website. You can win up to $1,000!
4. Look for discounted items outside of the clearance section.
Some deals may not be in the clearance section or may have a giant “clearance” sign. If you take a look at the racks in the store, you might find some unexpected items at deep discounts.
These discounts don’t only take place during the ROSS 49¢ sale. Enjoy discounts ranging from 20% to 60% throughout the year.
5. Please note that inventory changes regularly.
ROSS updates its inventory regularly. We don’t guarantee there will be another one next time, so if you see a great sale, scoop it up. Similarly, if you don’t find what you’re looking for one week, you might find it the next. Make time to visit the store and see the products in person.
6. Notice the tag marked “irregular”.
From time to time, you may find “irregular” items. This means the product does not meet the manufacturer’s guidelines. In some cases, these may be defective products that you should avoid purchasing, but in other cases, the anomaly is minimal and the item commands a higher price.
7. Shop early to get brand names.
Branded products that have been discounted tend to disappear from shelves. The earlier you get to the store, the better, so if possible, shop during weekdays when the store is less crowded.
8. Sign up for email to receive store news.
By subscribing to the ROSS email list, you may receive special offers and updates on products.
9. Do you always shop at ROSS? Earn 5% back in ROSS Rewards when you use your store credit card.
We generally do not recommend opening a credit card at a store. However, if you are a regular ROSS customer, you can receive 5% in ROSS Rewards. You can also get 10% off Ross Dress for Less. Get a Ross Mastercard and earn 1% in rewards wherever Mastercard is accepted.
10. Understand the ROSS Return Policy.
Opened software and items that have been used, worn, or altered are not eligible for refunds, exchanges, or store credits.
That being said, if you don’t like what you purchased or find it at a lower price, you can return it within 30 days for a full refund. All you need to do is bring your ID and original receipt.
Returns without a receipt must be authorized by our system (make sure to bring a valid ID). If approved, you will receive store credit or exchange at the current retail price.
Items returned after 30 days, whether received or not, will be exchanged or refunded with store credit.
Tip: Avoid paying for items by check. If you pay by check, you must wait 5 days after your return for funds to be released.
