“Today, Masters has decided that equality, freedom, and no fraternity for Romanians,” Georgek wrote on his previous Twitter, X. “Long France and Brussels live long lives in a colony named Romania,” he writes in Romanian.
“America is once again great, but Europe and Romania have become petty, corrupt and under dictatorships,” he added in English.
Hundreds of protesters gathered in front of the building that housed the Constitutional Court, waving Romanian flags. They booed and chanted, “Thief!” And when it found the decision to “freedom!” top coat, Romanian news channel Digi24 reported.
It was also the Constitutional Court that negated Georgek’s victory last year, which flagged the funding of undeclared campaigns and misuse of digital technology, allegedly deemed Russian businesses to influence the outcome.
Moscow refused to link to Georgescu. Dmitry Peskov, the news director of Russian President Vladimir Putin, said on Tuesday that elections that are not involved in Georgek were illegal.
The decision to keep Georgek out of the race is expected to be met with backlash from the Trump administration, including key officials in support of Georgek.
