Robinsons Hotels and Resorts (RHR), a leading local hotel operator, is set to make its debut in Siargao island’s booming tourism real estate sector with the opening of an “eco-friendly” luxury villa resort in 2026.
RHR has partnered with local investment group Hila Holdings Inc. (HHI) to open a 2,856-square-meter villa resort in Malinao district, General Luna province.
The Gokongwei Group’s hospitality division has signed a 10-year management agreement to bring “global hospitality standards with a uniquely Filipino service ethos” to Siargao Island.

The resort features 20 luxury villas aimed at providing personalized service to discerning travelers.
Known as the first franchisee of Jollibee Foods Corporation, a leading quick-service restaurant chain, HHI has branched out into hotel development in line with its vision to bring the Philippines to the forefront of tourism in Southeast Asia.
“We are grateful to RHR for this opportunity. We have confidence in the Robinsons Hotels brand and capabilities, which is why it was an easy decision to trust them with our first hotel and we look forward to building many more hotels with them in the future,” said Haresh Hiranand, President, HHI.
RHR has 30 hotels strategically deployed across the country under five local hotel brands: Go Hotels, Go Hotels Plus, Summit Hotels and Resorts, Grand Summit Hotels and Fili Hotel. “We are excited to enter into a meaningful partnership with Hira Holdings Inc., which shares the same values as RHR. This partnership marks another step forward in our mission to continue expanding our geographic presence while maintaining our commitment to service excellence and sustainable practices,” said Barun Jolly, Senior Vice President and Head of Operations, RHR.
The collaboration aims to “enhance the tourism appeal of Siargao Island while offering guests a tranquil retreat that reflects the island’s charm and tranquility.”
Renowned for its world-class surfing spots, Siargao Island has seen significant tourism growth in recent years. In 2023, the island is expected to reach 529,822 visitors, up from 125,008 last year. This surge in popularity is expected to make Siargao an ideal location for RHR’s newest luxury resort venture.
Varun added that RHR’s expansion plans are diversifying to include franchise and management agreements. “We are confident in the country’s bullish economic forecast and look forward to leveraging our expertise in hotel brand development to support optimistic investors looking to branch out into the hospitality industry,” he added. —Contributed
