Shop owners in Glen Echo, Maryland, are scrambling to repair the damage while continuing to serve customers after a series of robberies overnight.
Four stores at the Glen Echo Shopping Center on MacArthur Boulevard were broken into early Tuesday morning, according to Montgomery County police.
The broken glass door at the front of the sushi shop provided visible evidence of what had happened, and the manager pointed to where the cash register, filled with cash, had been pulled from the counter.
A few doors down, contractors were putting plywood over the large windows of an Exxon gas station, where the manager said nothing had been stolen.
It was discovered that the security fence at a nearby pharmacy was bent, preventing the unidentified suspects from entering the store or stealing anything.
Less than an hour later, police were called to a Brooks Brothers store on Wisconsin Avenue, four miles away, for a report of a commercial alarm, where unknown suspects had broken in, stolen items and left.
Montgomery County Police are investigating.
