SWR 3, Hampton Bays 2 October 21: The Wildcats got a big win against Hampton Bays for the playoffs. The score was tied at 2-2 at the end of regular time, and after two overtimes, Zach Makarevich scored the final goal to determine the winner. Shoreham-Wading River finished the season 12-4 overall and 9-1 in League VIII. Once the bracket comes out, they will be the top team in the playoffs.
Riverhead 3, Southold 1 Oct. 18: Riverhead was able to pick up a win against a non-league opponent in Southold at the end of the season. This was only the Blue Waves’ second win all season. Senior Lester Rivera finished the year with nine goals, including two goals against Southold. It was another losing season for Riverhead, which has never made the playoffs since its inception.

SWR 2, Kings Park 0, Oct. 21: The Wildcats, undefeated through League VII, got another game and a win. Stamatia Armioudis and Eva Gengler both scored for the side, which upset Kings Park in its latest win. They conceded just one goal all season, and that came in a 1-1 draw against Sayville. Mia Mangano, who had an assist against Kings Park, has a team-leading 15 goals this year.

41 Miller Place, SWR 7, October 19: It’s been an eventful year for Shoreham Wading River. The Wildcats, who started the year 2-0, have lost their last three of four games, including a lopsided loss to Miller Place. But their playoff hopes remain high, with the Wildcats needing to win one of their final two games to qualify. Sean Casey scored the only touchdown of the final game on a 5-yard pass from Noah Gregorek.

Ward Melville 48, Riverhead 7, Oct. 19: After winning their first game of the season against Central Islip, it was all downhill for Riverhead, losing their final five games of the season. The Blue Waves were able to score a touchdown in the second quarter when Carter Doyle connected with Kevin Qualley for a 45-yard pass. The playoffs are unlikely at this point, but maybe the Blue Waves can pick up some wins before the end of the season.

Riverhead 1, Half Hollow Hills 0 October 22: What a great way for the Blue Waves to end the season and build momentum for next year. Abby Maaiki scored the only goal of the game in the third period, and that was all Riverhead needed to get the win against a better team. Riverhead has only won five games over the past two years, finishing the season with a record of 5-8-1. SWR 8, West Babylon 1 In the final game of the regular season, the Wildcats scored a total of eight goals, the most ever against West Babylon. With this victory, their final regular season record was 14 wins and 2 losses, and they advanced to the playoffs. Madison Herr played well, scoring five goals and assisting on another. Herr finished the season second overall on Long Island with 41 points.
