Rihanna has a deep love for vintage style and John Galliano designs, as evidenced by her red carpet and street style “off” ensembles. On Saturday, the “Diamonds” singer favored both, opting for a vintage Galliano look with a mink coat and other oversized pieces.

The coat is a vintage design by John Galliano. Wide lapels and broad shoulders give it a sloping effect. She has been seen wearing fur before. It’s from the designer’s fall 1998 collection, and it’s worth noting that she wore this coat for Thanksgiving last year. The collection has a Casanova theme and is inspired by the 1920s, created in collaboration with Stallion Furs. The presentation was shown at the Metropolitan Club in New York and marked the debut of the licensed fur collection. It was also Galliano’s first exhibition in New York.
A previous WWD review said Galliano’s dramatic presentation “raised the bar for future screenings,” complete with 4,000 roses and models dressed in “high camp drag.” The event was held at a venue modeled after Casanova’s home. “They paraded an impressive range of fur and fur-trimmed coats that oozed unabashed luxury, including chinchillas, broadtails and pastel-colored foxes, all with luxurious embroidery. The fur is one of many Galliano pieces that Rihanna owned from his time at the namesake brand and Christian Dior. When she launched her Fenty Hair hair care line at Selfridges in September, she wore a vintage ruffled dress from John Galliano’s spring 2006 collection. She also tends to embrace vintage from other designers, and for the 2024 Fashion Awards, she chose a fuzzy blue Christian Lacroix look from 2002.
But on Saturday, she paired the mink coat with a wool twill zip-up jacket from The Attico. Additionally, she wore black distressed wide-leg jeans by Acne Studios and Bottega Veneta Haddock boots. She also carried a Bottega Veneta Calimero bucket bag. This design features the company’s signature intreccio technique, which involves weaving the leather together. She accessorized with a vintage diamond cross necklace and medallion necklace.
