Robert F. Kennedy Jr. reportedly “delivered the toughest ultimate to the CEOs of major food companies” about what they put into the food they sell to consumers.
According to Politico, President Donald Trump’s health secretary told the CEO that certain artificial dyes would be banned.
From the report:
Kennedy on Monday is pushing leaders from companies such as PepsiCo, General Mills, Tyson Foods, Smucker, Kraftheinz and Kellogg for their commitment to reducing food additives. It was the first major meeting of health and welfare secretaries with the very executives who spent months making Americans sick.
“(Kennedy) has expressed the administration’s strong desire and urgent priorities to remove FD&C’s colour from the food supply. He wants to do this before taking office,” said Melissa Hockstad, president of the Consumer Brands Association, sent to the industry, referring to the colour additives used in food, drugs and meat-bearing.
Kennedy was sworn in as Trump’s health secretary last month after a close Senate vote, making him skeptical of a prominent vaccine that manages federal spending, vaccine recommendations, food safety, and health insurance programs in the country.
Kennedy cited “highly chemically processed foods” as the leading perpetrator behind the US chronic disease outbreak, including diseases such as obesity, diabetes and autoimmune disorders.
