Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans from across the NFL. Throughout the year, we ask questions of the most passionate Detroit Lions fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in weekly email surveys.
In this week’s SB Nation Reacts survey, we asked Lions fans just one question. “Are you confident the Lions are moving in the right direction?” (weekly poll)
In the original research article, we explained how confidence surveys fluctuated throughout the season, only dropping significantly after losses. If you missed it, please review it here.
Week 1: 99% After Week 1 win Rams: 97% Loss to Bucs: 79% Win over Cardinals: 92% Win over Seahawks: 99% Bye week: 96% Win over Cowboys: 98% vs Vikings Wins: 98% to beat Titans: 96% to beat Packers: 99% to beat Texans: 99% to Jaguars: 99% Win over Colts: 99% Win over Bears: 91% Win over Packers: 98% Lose to Bills: 86% Win over Bears: 98%
And now, with Lions fans coming off a (revenge?) win over the 49ers and increasing their season win total to 14, there seems to be a little bit of tension in the fan base as their confidence rating has dropped to 91% — Overall, it remains strong.
Fortunately, the national audience remains firmly loyal to Detroit. SB Nation also conducted a national poll to see who would cover the Lions -2.5 over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 18, which was set up by the folks at FanDuel Sportsbook, and was I believe viewers continue to side with Detroit, and the Lions, with 60% of fans nationwide believing that, will win and cover.
And just in case you need a little more Kool-Aid, 21% of national fans surveyed believe the Lions will win the Super Bowl, the second-highest percentage behind the defending champions. .
