Diamond Sports Group made a surprising move during its Chapter 11 bankruptcy hearing, according to reports from ESPN and The Athletic.
Bally Sports hosted 12 team games last season. ESPN reported that his contracts with the Cleveland Guardians, Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers expire this year.
Seven teams – the Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Angels, Miami Marlins, St. Louis Cardinals and Tampa Bay Rays – must negotiate new contracts or find new providers.
At this time, his contract with the Atlanta Braves is not affected. A Braves spokesperson said the team has no comment at this time.
According to a reporter for The Athletic, MLB was blindsided by this decision in court.
