Ocasio-Cortez has served on the Oversight Committee since joining Congress in 2019, and while Democrats held a majority in Congress, the committee was joined by fellow New Yorker and former Rep. Carolyn. Mr. Maloney served as chairman for several years.
The steering committee recommended Connolly for the position. He has previously run for the Supervisory Board twice, but was unsuccessful.
