KW New Orleans and Dr. Neil Jolly have partnered to revitalize the Jolly Building, the site at 713 Camp Street.
Located between similar tenement houses and directly across from St. Patrick’s Church, this four-story historic building was first constructed in 1852 by architects James Gallier and James Dakin.
Renovations were completed in 2000 by architect Angela O’Byrne and ensured the preservation of the character and structural integrity of historic New Orleans architecture.
The current partnership followed a policy of maintaining design elements that respected the aesthetically significant appeal of the entire site, including the original plaster, timber beams, joinery and exposed brickwork.
The residential units feature cherry hardwood floors, granite countertops, custom cabinetry, 12-foot-tall windows, and one private balcony overlooking Camp Street.
“Camp Street is a jewel in the Warehouse District,” Jeffrey Dussan, owner of KW New Orleans, said in a news release. “The Jolly Building has a history and a great location, but someone with a fresh vision was ready to bring it back. We wanted to honor the building’s past while creating a space for renters today. We took great care to make it comfortable and modern.”
Doussan said Dr. Jolly hired designer Aaron Hahnselle of Hahnselle Studios to create unique wallpapers, custom art pieces, and carefully selected materials that balance historic charm with a modern, sophisticated look. The colors and other elements added more elegance to the overall look.
The Jolly Building features 935 square feet of built-to-suit ground floor commercial retail space, previously managed as short-term rental units. There are three high-end luxury apartments on the floors above. Only one residential unit and ground floor retail space are still available for rent.
“Camp Street is ripe for retail, and we believe its size and location are perfect for boutique retailers to capitalize on foot traffic from both local residents and tourists. “This area has become a hotspot for art galleries, dining and shopping, and The Jolly Building is right in the heart of it,” said Dussan.
Mr Jolly said: “While reminders of history are everywhere, we know The Jolly Building is a place people will want to call home and an ideal retail destination for businesses. I have confirmed it.”
