The Red Sox certainly seem excited to acquire Garrett Crochet on Wednesday, but there are still some things that need to be addressed.
I know Boston well.
Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow essentially acknowledged that, appearing on WEEI’s “Jones & Keefe” on Thursday and outlining the needs he intends to address.
“It’s really hard to share what we should expect, because if we’ve learned anything over the last few days, it’s that there are moments when you feel like something is really close, but in a random moment… , it feels just like you’re miles away,” Breslow said. “One thing I can absolutely say is that we will continue to aggressively pursue avenues to improve our team, including starting pitchers (or) right-handed hitters to balance out our batting lineup. There is a possibility that we can make this happen, and we will continue to strengthen our bullpen.”
That’s what you expect, right?

Boston has needed to balance its lineup for quite some time, with Trevor Story currently the only right-handed hitter available in the middle of the order. Sedan Rafaela, Connor Wong, Romy Gonzalez and Rob Refsnyder can’t get the job done.
Breslow is also reported to have ties to several armed groups, including Corbin Burns, John Means, Walker Buehler, Kirby Yates, Tanner Scott, and Devin Williams.
The Red Sox can’t sign all of these players, but marrying one or two of these names to players like Alex Bregman and Teoscar Hernandez would put them back in contention. could be of great help.
