I have had the perfect record to fulfill my New Year’s resolutions every year, so it’s sad to report this time I failed. When my husband asks what my resolution is in January every year, I always reply: “To get there next year.” Well, on February 5th, 2025, that perfect record suddenly ended. Yes, this old body had enough – and just stopped working.
It all began on February 12th, 1944. In fact, when Leon Leroy Stocome (D) and Sigrid’s Anna Wailinen Stocome (D) decide my half-brother, David Leon Stocome, D (Laura), decides that he needs a playmate, he actually does. It started nine months ago. They weren’t happy with just two children and decided to add Susan Anne Stocome Dick, D (Frank, D), and later Faye Louise Stocome.
I started my education at the age of six. Twelve years later, in 1962, I graduated from Jersey Shore High School and four years later from Lycoming College. I started teaching, but eventually ended up with the Lycoming County Aid Department, where I retired in 2004.
Meanwhile, after school and before I retired, I was married and had two sons, Todd Leon (Melissa Quick) Stocam and Mark Ivan (Tonya Zimmerman) Stocam. Shortly after my divorce, I was happy to become a single parent.
He served as a short stint as Cub Scout (Cub Scout Master of the Year), Soccer (President of Jersey Shore Pop Warner Football), Baseball and Vice President of Jersey Shore Rittle League. This was all the result of being a parent. They had an amazing year.
In November 1985, my household went from three to four, and now I added my husband, Larry Ferry.
In October 1999, Larry and I purchased a 1825 farmhouse. This was completed with the construction of the Stocum and moved into the house in February 2004. The garden has been selected twice as a garden of the month by the Dogwood Garden Club. The house and garden were part of two garden tours. I became a Master Gardener and a Clinton County Master Gardener Coordinator. I wrote two garden pillars. One is for Rock Haven Express “It’s easy to turn green.” One is for records “what happened.”
In addition to my husband and two sons, the best things that have happened to me are my grandchildren, Mackenzie Stocome and Spencer (Bethany), Stocome, my great grandson Elias, Step Great grandson Carter, and Emmitt , granddaughter in law Tabithaman (Ryan) Bozida and granddaughter in law Clara. In law, Brady joined the family in December 2024.
Over the years, we don’t understand how many people have come into contact with our lives or how we will affect them. Pennsylvania State Park, along with my friends Jenny and Karen, has become a great part of our lives. My friend Jaune shared homemade jams and homemade fruits and vegetables. Charlie fits naturally to her friend’s list, and the crazy woman Betsy kept me up to her outrageous greeting cards. And of course, I have many other friends and acquaintances, meaning many things and made life special.
As per my request, there is no viewing. Instead, I reminded this obit photo that in just the right pose, everyone can see well.
To sum up, take your time to look up the lyrics of the song “my way.”
Sunday afternoon, June 29th is a temporary date for Quentin’s life celebration, a garden party in Sarona.
