Ukraine is under intense pressure in the Kursk region. After Russian and North Korean troops launched a fierce counterattack, they raised domestic morale last summer and used it as a tip for potential negotiations.
The Ukrainians are now facing a tricky, narrow exit from Sudaza, the largest foothold seized in a thunderous attack, as Russian forces try to envelop the town.
Ruslan Levieviv, founder of the War of Independence Monitor Conflict Intelligence Team, said on Wednesday that Russian broadcaster Television Raine and exiled Russian soldiers were slowly retreating.
“The history of Kursk Bridgehead is coming to an end. Perhaps today, this story will end. Or perhaps the border villages may still try to hold for a few more days,” Lebiev said.
“It is fair to say at this point that the entire city of Sudzha is currently under Russian control,” he added.
Russia has won five other settlements, according to DeepStateMap, a reputable interactive online chart for hostilities.
