President Donald Trump has appointed former Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle, who is engaged to Trump’s eldest son, as the US ambassador to Greece.
“For many years, Kimberly has been a close friend and ally,” President Trump said in a statement. “Kimberley is well-suited to foster a strong bilateral relationship with Greece, advancing our interests on issues ranging from defense cooperation to trade and economic innovation.”
Guilfoyle’s nomination requires Senate confirmation. “I am honored to accept President Trump’s nomination for the next ambassador to Greece and look forward to receiving the support of the U.S. Senate,” she wrote on social media.
The president-elect is filling his administration with supporters, donors and family members. President Trump chose his son-in-law’s father, Charles Kushner, as ambassador to France, and his daughter Tiffany Trump’s father-in-law, Massad Boulos, as his Middle East advisor.
Guilfoyle became engaged to Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr. in 2020 and has worked as a campaign fundraiser and on Trump’s behalf. She has never held a foreign policy or diplomatic role and worked as a prosecutor in California before turning to television.
Guilfoyle left Fox News in 2017. In 2020, The New Yorker detailed allegations from a former assistant who accused Guilfoyle of repeated sexual harassment.
