I have hosted many Thanksgiving celebrations. So here are some additional pieces of advice.
Let others help you.
Try assigning some menu items to other family members and guests attending this Thanksgiving. This will reduce your burden even when you have to make fewer dishes. Even if it’s a small detail or task like bringing drinks or ice, this can help you cross something off your “to-do” list.
Use coupons and check out local store sales.
Get coupons and sales early! Last year, I purchased a 15 pound turkey that was on sale at my local Albertsons store for a total of just $11.49. They compared the price of a frozen turkey from a local grocery store and Signature Farms and found a great deal.
Please utilize other home appliances.
Oven space can be an issue on Thanksgiving, so make sure to utilize other small appliances as well. You can use a slow cooker to heat mashed potatoes or a toaster oven to heat a casserole.
Air fryers are also great! Check out my review of Walmart’s Beautiful by Drew Barrymore Collection and be sure to check out our entire lineup of air fryer recipes to try something new this year. Plus, keep an eye out for our annual Black Friday Air Fryer Sale. If you don’t already have an air fryer, you can get a great deal on a new one.
To lighten the load, buy ready-made foods.
There’s no shame in using cutting-edge eating methods like frozen pie crusts, store-bought stuffing mixes, and pre-made pies. In fact, my family often bakes frozen Rhodes yeast dinner rolls for Thanksgiving. Because it’s so fluffy and actually tastes homemade.
Regardless of what others are doing, do what works for you and your family, even if it means keeping things as simple as possible.
And remember…
Thanksgiving is a day to express gratitude, fill our bellies with delicious food, and enjoy the holiday with our loved ones. Remember to focus on the present moment, unplug, and stop stressing about everything being perfect. It is your child’s most memorable memory. ❤️
Happy Thanksgiving to all Hip2Savers!
