MORGAN — Grantsville (6-2, 2-1 Region 13) took a 3-0 lead with a 35-yard field goal early in the first quarter.
But on Friday night, Morgan scored 42 unanswered points in a lopsided 42-3 district win, giving the No. 2 RPI team in 3A a convincing victory over the No. 1 RPI team. .
Beck Sheffield threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Boston Zach with 9:24 left in the first quarter to give Morgan (8-0, 3-0 Region 13) the lead for good. Lincoln Gilson scored the next three touchdowns on runs of 12, 5 and 4 yards, and the Trojans led 28-3 at the half.
Jake Hansen and birthday boy Luke Bauerle each had two interceptions, with Hansen returning the second pick 82 yards for a touchdown. Crew Galbraith scored on a 1-yard dive with 4:42 left in the game.
Bear River 44, Westfield 6
TAYLOR — Jackson Taylor completed four touchdown passes to lead Bear River to its first region win at Westfield.
Theurer connected with Kash Avery for a 7-yard touchdown to give Bear River (2-6, 1-3, Region 11) the lead. Theurer hit Eli Breger with two scoring strikes. He hit an 18-yarder in the first quarter to make the score 14-0, followed by a 17-yarder with 3:06 left in the third quarter.
On the first play of the fourth quarter, Teuler connected with Tatum Stevens, who sprinted down the sideline and cut behind a defender for a 70-yard touchdown to make the score 44-0.
Gliden Behrens had an 81-yard interception on a pick-six and Tydon Jones scored on a 1-yard dive to get the Bears’ other points.
West Field broke the shutout with Tyce Abbott’s 2-yard quarterback keeper (1-7, 1-3) with 44 seconds left in the game.
Bountiful 50, Box Elder 21
BOUNTIFUL — Kaydin Reyes puts Box Elder on the board with a 58-yard touchdown pass to Carter Buchanan with 3:53 left in the second quarter for Bountiful (7-1, 4-1, Region 5). The lead was cut to 14-7. All he had to do was watch the Redhawks fight back with four straight touchdowns.
Jay Macias scored the other two touchdowns for Box Elder (3-5, 1-4): a 68-yard run early in the third quarter and a 5-yard scamper late in the third.
Bountiful’s win sets up a Region 5 showdown with Roy (8-0, 5-0) on Thursday, Oct. 10.

OGDEN — Ogden (12-7, 3-4, Region 13) dropped a five-set thriller at home Thursday against Grantsville (12-7, 3-4, Region 13). The scores were 22-25, 25-16, 25-21, 20-25, 15-13.
Lauretta Taukiuvea led Ogden (6-11, 2-5) with 18 kills and five blocks. Tess Correa had 12 kills. Ryan Burns had 27 digs and Taylor Duke added 25 digs.
maple mountain tournament
SPANISH FORK — Fremont (9-4) won both games on the first day of the Maple Mountain High School Tournament.
The Silver Wolves defeated Provo in four sets (27-29, 25-18, 25-10, 25-12). Fremont then dominated Alta by scores of 25-17, 25-14, and 25-18.
