Spoonbill Bay is a luxury home and amenities development built on the Bayside of Highway 361 in Port Aransas. It has been in the planning stage for about nine years, and bike-driven neighbors can see the first set of model homes appearing.
“Nine years ago we saw this property,” says Alex Harris, operations manager at Spoonbill Bay LLC.
Spoonbill Bay has a total of 200 homes and is equipped with several amenities, including a water park, convenience store, pickleball court, steakhouse restaurant and park.

“But our amenities will really make a difference. We are Bayside pioneers and we want people to come here. The beach is so much fun, but we want to balance it a little on both sides.”
In addition to the fact that it is on the bay side rather than the bay side, the development of Spoonville Bay is similar to other developments in the region, such as the Cinnamon Shore and La Palmyra.

“The biggest project approaching is our water park. It’s in a great truck with a 50-foot splash pad in the air. You won’t miss driving on this highway,” Harris said.

The Spoonbill Bay project manager wants buyers to bang for a dollar.
“All of our homes start at $490,000, so we’re trying to find such a different area of the market,” Hammond said.
Nearby news reporter Erin Holly compared prices for a three-bedroom, three-bathroom home in Cinnamon Coast Development on the street and a three-bedroom, three-bathroom home in Spoonville Bay. Cinnamon Shore Properties is listed for $995,000, while Spoonville Bay Properties is listed for $737,000.
Spoonbill Bay staff hopes to complete a water park, pickleball court and several shops by spring break in 2026.
“That’s going to be the water park. It’s going to be the pickle ball court, these two things. Then we’ll have all the retailers, minus the C store, and it’s our own timeline that’s going to happen in Phase 1 too,” Hammond said.

The project manager expects phase 1 of Spoonville Bay construction to be completed in about two years, with the entire development going to be completed in about five years. For more information about development, click here.
