“During this Jubilee, I hope that we practice kindness as a form of love that connects us with others,” Pope Francis said in a message for the BBC’s “Thoughts for the Day.” Ta.
In his message, the Pope emphasized the importance of hope and kindness, which he said “touch the heart of the Gospel and guide us in our actions.”
A world filled with hope and kindness is “a more beautiful world,” he says, and “a society that looks to the future with confidence and treats people with respect and empathy is more human.”
“We can choose love”
Pope Francis noted that the Jubilee year, which began on Christmas Eve, calls us to be pilgrims of hope, to choose love in a world rife with war, social injustice, and various forms of violence. I recommend it to everyone. “We choose love, and love makes our hearts excited and full of hope.”
Love can be expressed through kindness, he says, “which opens our hearts to acceptance and helps us become more humble.” Humility “helps dialogue, helps overcome misunderstandings, and creates gratitude,” he continues.
Quoting the words of “the great British writer GK Chesterton”, the Pope said, “He wisely invites us not to take for granted the elements of life, but to take them with gratitude.”
Pope Francis concluded his message with a plea for hope and a prayer that the new year brings us “peace, communion and gratitude.”
