Police have released CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to after burglars stole luxury items, including designer handbags, from a home in west London.
Two burglars stole Hermes Birkin bags and other valuables worth tens of thousands of pounds from an address in Chelsea.
The assailants attacked on the evening of July 20th, and despite a police investigation no arrests have been made.
Detectives have now released a photograph of the man they hope to identify.
The image was taken near Smith Street in Chelsea at around 8.30pm, before the thieves struck.
A police statement said: “The photograph was taken on Smith Street, SW3, at approximately 8.30pm on Saturday, July 20.”
“Later that evening, two males entered a home along the street and stole several items. The stolen items included several Hermes Birkin bags. No arrests have been made and investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.”
The handbag is named after the late British actress Jane Birkin and has become a symbol of exclusivity and has been frequently seen worn by stars such as Kate Moss, Heidi Klum, Winnie Harlow and Kim Kardashian.
Earlier this year it was reported that the bag had become a popular target for thieves in Los Angeles, with police saying South American gangs were breaking into luxury homes in wealthy areas to steal the bags, worth up to £100,000.
Anyone who recognises this man or has any information which could assist police is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC quoting 01/620918/24. If you wish to remain anonymous you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
