“They have worked hard to make this football team better.” SEHS head coach Matt Dillon said. “I’m excited for all of this to happen to them.
“It all starts with our seniors, because they are tasked with leading this football team.”
Prior to kick-off, Dominic McClain, Clay Baker, Quintin Jeschke, Sam Meyer and Adam Walker were recognized by the school for their efforts. Baker scored a touchdown and all five played key roles on defense, keeping the game from getting out of reach.
“They’ve been fun to watch on the defensive side of the ball this season.” Dillon said. “They’re flying all over the field and making plays.
“The opposing team definitely knows they’re in the game by the end of the game because of how hard we’re attacking.”
St. Edmond held the Royals (4-4, 1-4) to 86 yards of total offense in the first half and had zero first downs in the second quarter. Coronesco averaged just 3 yards per play in this game after averaging 11.5 yards per pass and 7 yards per rush.
Baker and Jacob Koopman started the scoring with a TD from Ethan Swisher, and Hint took over and scored four touchdowns on second and third.
Hint also added one on a designed trick play by Grant Gareth and converted two two-point conversions. Gareth caught three passes, Baker caught two and Coopman and McClain one each.
“Ethan did a great job when we wanted him to pass. The kids made plays all night.” Dillon said. “The offensive line did a great job.
“It was a really fun game for me as a coach, and honestly, it was pretty easy to call the plays considering the way they played.”
The Royals, who had scored 92 points in their previous two games, finally got going in the third when Jack Angell hit Landon Daggett to score.
Hint entered the night rushing for a team-high 347 yards. He carried the load on the final scoring drive, carrying the ball four times for all 75 yards.
